Back in January 2022 we had an offer accepted on a country pub about 15 minutes away from Sticky Walnut. It had been vacant for about 2.5 years, but it was freehold and had no brewery ties… it even had rooms upstairs we could make good use of. Perfect for the first Elite Bistro pub!
In November that year we launched our 7th Kickstarter to raise £200k in a week to help with the renovations. We smashed it in 24 hours.
As soon as we got the keys we got to work. Gary was there almost every day, moving concrete, clearing mud and moss and ripping up carpets.
You can tell how much it means to the community in Churton to have it back open too because they were stopping by and getting stuck in themselves: helping out or letting us use their tools. We’ve even had people stopping by with coffee, cake and pasta.
We re-opened on Friday 3rd march 2023, and it’s been so wonderful to see the pub come back to life. We couldn’t have done it without our Kickstarter backers and the help of the local Churton community
We serve uncomplicated, unpretentious, delicious food by a team who love what they do and want to make every dining experience feel special. Our seasonal menu features comforting bistro dishes as well as Elite Bistro classic like our Crème Brûlée.
Our Kids menu has a lot more than just fish fingers on it and our Sunday roast dinners are worth travelling for. In our opinion the best roast has:
… which funnily enough is exactly what we do!
Situated east of the River Dee, a natural border between England and Wales, our local area is popular amongst walking groups, cyclists and horse riders.

We love seeing the whole family out dining with us, especially any furry four-legged family members.
Groups with dogs are welcome in our bar area and when dining in the snug, and of course in our large outdoor terrace area. When booking a table, please let us know in your reservation that you intend to bring your furry friend and we will seat you in the snug where possible. We politely request that all dogs be kept on the floor and on a lead.
We have two dedicated disabled parking spaces clearly marked (in the front half of the car park, on your way to the back).
We are working around the confines of our building (having not done a complete new fit, the pub remains the same as the original floor plans) so whilst we do have step-free access through the main doors via a removable ramp, sadly we do not have any disabled toilet facilities on site.
If you’re dining with us and require use of the ramp or any other special requests, please add a note on your booking so we can assist and make things comfortable for you.
We take reservations for dining 7 days a week. Tables are booked for 1 hour 45 minutes for parties of up to 4; 2 hours for parties of up to 6; and 2 hours 15 minutes for parties of 7+. You’re welcome to continue your time with us in the bar area after your meal.
Dining with children? Please include all children in your total number of guests on your reservation and let us know if you need a highchair.
If you’re wishing to just stop by to enjoy a drink only please seat yourself in the bar area and order at the bar. Outside tables are seated on a first come first served basis and not able to be reserved.
